1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Align mobile application, related web experiences, and connected services we operate (collectively, the "Services"). Align is a personal development product that includes journaling, rituals, planning tools, identity exercises, progress tracking, and AI-assisted features.
By installing, accessing, creating an account, checking an acceptance box, or otherwise using the Services, you enter a binding agreement with Align and confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or at least 16 years old where local law requires a higher minimum age, to use Align. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Accounts and Access
3.1 Anonymous and Linked Accounts
Align may start you in an anonymous / guest account so you can begin using the product before linking an identity provider. Depending on platform and availability, you may later link or sign in using Google or Apple.
Some features may require a linked provider account rather than an anonymous session.
3.2 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the activity that occurs through your account and for maintaining control of any linked sign-in method. You must provide truthful information where the product requests it.
3.3 Personal Use Only
Your account is for your own personal use. You may not sell, rent, transfer, share, or sublicense access to the Services.
3.4 Abuse and Suspension
You may not create or use multiple accounts to evade limits, cooldowns, pricing rules, purchase restrictions, anti-abuse systems, or other product controls. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, misused the Services, or attempted to manipulate the product or its billing or AI systems.
4. License to Use the Services
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, distribute, resell, or reverse-engineer the app or related code, except where applicable law prohibits that restriction
- Use the Services to build a competing product or service
- Use bots, scripts, scraping tools, or unauthorized automation against the Services
- Probe, scan, or test system vulnerabilities or bypass security measures
- Attempt to access data or accounts belonging to other users
- Impersonate another person, spam community surfaces, manipulate leaderboards, or abuse invite-only groups or co-op spaces
- Misuse subscription flows, restore flows, or rate-limited AI systems
5. Your Content
5.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of the content you create or upload in Align, including journals, morning pages, ritual responses, planning data, quiz answers, personal context, vision board material, and messages you submit to AI-powered features ("User Content").
5.2 Limited License to Operate the Service
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, and display your User Content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Services to you. This includes syncing your data across sessions, generating AI-assisted outputs you request, and storing saved outputs inside your account.
5.3 Public and Social Features
Align may offer public or shared features such as usernames, public profile surfaces, leaderboards, friend systems, invite-only groups or co-op spaces, and Alignment Wall posts or similar community features. If you use those features, the content and profile data you submit there may be visible to other users according to the product settings.
You are responsible for what you choose to publish or share. Do not post content you do not have the right to share, including another person's personal data, confidential information, or material that violates the law or these Terms. We may remove public or shared content, limit its visibility, or disable related features if we believe it creates abuse, safety risk, legal exposure, or product misuse.
5.4 Content Restrictions
You may not use the Services, including public or shared features, to upload or distribute unlawful content, malware, content that infringes another person's intellectual property rights, or content used to harass, threaten, abuse, dox, or impersonate others.
5.5 Feedback
If you send us product feedback, suggestions, or feature ideas, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that feedback to improve Align. This does not transfer ownership of your private journals or other User Content.
6. AI-Assisted Features
6.1 Current AI Features
Align currently includes AI-assisted experiences such as Awareness Report, AI Baseline Setup, Frequencies chat, Alchemist, Observer, Identity Score, Chronicle, Daily Signal, Day Architect, Tier Review, and related AI-generated reflections or summaries.
6.2 How AI Processing Works
These features rely on server-side requests to Google's Gemini API. When you use them, relevant portions of your content and account context may be processed to generate a response, as described in our Privacy Policy.
6.3 AI Is Not Professional Advice
AI outputs are provided for personal development, reflection, and informational purposes only. They are not medical, psychiatric, psychological, therapeutic, counseling, legal, tax, or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for a licensed or qualified professional.
Align does not provide diagnosis, treatment, cure, mitigation, or prevention of any disease, disorder, condition, or mental-health crisis. No statement in the Services creates a doctor-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, fiduciary, or other professional relationship.
6.4 No Accuracy Guarantee
AI-generated content may be incomplete, incorrect, biased, harmful, or inappropriate. You are solely responsible for your own decisions, actions, interpretations, and outcomes.
6.5 Health, Wellness, and Safety
Align is not a medical device and is not intended for use in emergencies. The Services are not designed for crisis intervention, suicide prevention, self-harm response, substance-use treatment, eating-disorder treatment, or any situation requiring immediate in-person professional care.
If you are in danger, think you may harm yourself or others, or need urgent help, stop using the app and contact your local emergency number or a qualified crisis service immediately. Do not rely on Align for emergency communication or real-time monitoring.
You agree that physical activity, habit changes, sleep changes, fasting, supplements, social exposure, financial moves, or other actions you take based on app content, rituals, scores, or AI outputs are taken at your own risk. Consult a qualified professional before making health, medical, mental-health, fitness, nutrition, or financial decisions.
6.6 No Guaranteed Results
We do not promise any specific outcome, including improved mental health, income, productivity, relationships, identity change, tier advancement, streaks, scores, rankings, or life results. Past or illustrative examples are not guarantees of future performance.
6.7 Feature Gating and Limits
Some AI features may require completion of setup flows, enough account history, a linked provider account, or a paid plan. We may also apply message limits, cooldowns, or other usage controls to protect service quality and reduce abuse.
7. Plans, Purchases, and Billing
7.1 Free and Paid Access
Align may offer free access, paid subscriptions, and one-time purchase options such as lifetime access, depending on current product configuration. Features and limits can vary by plan.
7.2 Store Billing
Purchases and subscriptions are handled through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, with subscription status managed through our billing provider RevenueCat. By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize the relevant store to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
7.3 Auto-Renewal
Recurring subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the applicable renewal deadline set by the store. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your store account settings.

7.4 No Standard Free-Trial Promise
Align does not promise that a free trial will always be available. If a promotional trial, introductory offer, or other limited offer is presented in the app or by the relevant store, that offer is governed by the terms shown at the time of purchase.
7.5 Refunds
Refunds, billing disputes, and store-side cancellations are handled by the relevant app store under its own policies. We do not directly process card payments and generally cannot issue store-billed refunds ourselves.

7.6 Pricing Changes
We may change pricing, packaging, features, or plan structure in the future. Any new purchase will be subject to the pricing displayed at the time of purchase. Existing subscriptions are also subject to the store's renewal and notice rules.
8. Third-Party Services
Align relies on third-party providers including Supabase, Google Gemini API, RevenueCat, PostHog, Apple, and Google. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the independent practices or availability of third-party platforms.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the limits of current data protection, including the fact that stored data is not currently end-to-end encrypted.
10. Intellectual Property
The Services, including the app software, design, branding, artwork, text, prompts, compilation, and related materials, are owned by Align or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of our intellectual property to you.
11. Account Deletion
You can delete your account from the Settings screen in the app. Deletion is intended to permanently remove your account and associated stored data as described in the Privacy Policy. Deletion is irreversible.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, absolute security, data preservation, or that any output, recommendation, score, ritual, plan, ranking, community interaction, or AI-generated insight will be accurate, safe, lawful, or suitable for your needs.
You understand that personal-development tools involve inherent uncertainty and that results depend on factors outside our control, including your choices, health, environment, and third-party services.
13. Assumption of Risk and Release
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you voluntarily assume all risks arising from your access to or use of the Services, including risks of emotional distress, misunderstanding AI outputs, reliance on non-professional guidance, interaction with other users, physical injury from activities you undertake, financial loss, reputational harm, or data loss.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release Align and its affiliates, officers, owners, contractors, and service providers from claims, demands, and damages of every kind, known or unknown, arising out of or connected with your use of the Services or your reliance on any content, score, recommendation, or community feature, except where such release is prohibited by mandatory law.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALIGN AND ITS AFFILIATES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, LICENSORS, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, REPUTATION, OPPORTUNITY, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO ALIGN FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) EUR 50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or intentional misconduct where such limitation is unlawful.
15. Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Align and its affiliates, owners, contractors, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Services; (b) your User Content or public posts; (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; (d) your violation of another person's rights; or (e) any action you take based on content, scores, or recommendations in the Services.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the app, website, or other appropriate means. Your continued use of the Services after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which Align operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection rights under the law of your country of residence remain unaffected.

18. General Terms
- Severability: If part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in effect.
- No Waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment: We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
- Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and Align regarding the Services.
